The maiden Global Goals World Cup East Africa is set for Women’s Day, March 8 at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo. The all-women five-aside tournament aims at giving women a chance to experience the power of Sports and football in particular.
Mariam Mpaata, the CEO of Afrika Sport Foundation Centre, said that it is going to be an exciting time for the women and they shouldn’t stay at home on Women’s day.
Afrika Sports Foundation Center has embarked on a mass awareness campaign of various women groups towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) but through the power of football.
The foundation through the Global Goals World (GGW) Cup East Africa will host an annual soccer tournament, to help create awareness and help solve women related challenges in line with the SDGs like poverty, hunger, and human rights among others.
Whereas sports in Africa is yet to achieve what other developed continents accomplished many years ago, we still find it provocative to devour into what ails us. Several scholars and writers have not spared the ink to point out challenges and solutions in the sports industry, and again we are still tackling the same issues many years later. Where does the rain beat us?
The arguments about how relevant this day is can cause a whole international debate, so I am going to be gentle.
Love flavours are still lingering around the air, and for those who are wondering why Valentine’s Day was celebrated on Sunday, the 14th of February. The arguments about how relevant this day is can cause a whole international debate, so I am going to be gentle.
Some argue that it is a total waste of time, emotions, and money, while others feel that it is worth the fuss. Either way, it is hard not to notice that Valentine’s day is overdramatised, overmarketed, and overhyped. Towns suddenly come to life with bits of red in almost every small roadside shop to the bigger supermarkets and hotels. There is a fierce simplicity that makes this day stand out.
